Changelog
By Ayush NautiyalUpdated
Everything that has shipped, newest first. Dates are when the change went live.
12 October 2026 — Paper finish
Added a paper finish control with three options: Clean, Scanned and Photo.
Scanned applies a grey wash, an edge band, faint scan-head banding and dust specks, the way a flatbed scan looks. Photo applies a warm corner light, a vignette, a lift shadow along one edge and a little sensor noise.
The finish is composited after the handwriting is drawn, so the ink picks up the same lighting as the paper. Drawing the shadow under the writing instead of over it was the first attempt and it looked obviously wrong, which is most of why this took longer than expected.
Both effects are seeded per page, so the preview matches the export exactly.
Written up in full in making handwriting look scanned.
28 September 2026 — Guides on language support
Added a walkthrough of the non-Latin handwriting fonts after a run of emails from people who could not work out why the language filter was not translating their text. It never did. The guide says so plainly, and the converter now shows a hint when a non-Latin language is selected.
20 September 2026 — Pagination fix
Fixed a case where a paragraph ending exactly on the last line of a page could push a single orphaned word onto the next one. Line breaking now measures the trailing fragment before committing the break.
7 September 2026 — Paper styles guide
Published choosing the right paper style, covering what each of the twelve papers is actually for and which ones print badly.
24 August 2026 — In-place page editing
You can now click directly on a page in the preview and edit the text there, instead of hunting for the right spot in the box on the left. Useful for fixing a page that ends one word short.
The caret lands where you clicked, which required mapping canvas coordinates back to character offsets. Headings made this harder than it sounds, because they change the line height mid-page.
10 August 2026 — Mixed styles on one page
Select any range of text and click a handwriting style to apply it to just that range. The rest of the page keeps the base style. Added for people making worksheets where the question and the answer line should look like different hands.
Also added bold, underline, strikethrough, per-selection colour, headings and lists.
2 August 2026 — Font favourites
Starred styles now sort to the top of the picker and persist in localStorage. Added because the style list had grown past the point where scrolling to your usual one was reasonable.
13 July 2026 — Guides
First three guides published: typed notes to handwritten pages, text to cursive and handwriting to PDF.
July 2026 — Scripts beyond Latin
Added handwriting faces for Cyrillic, Devanagari, Arabic, Hebrew, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Thai.
Arabic, Thai and Devanagari needed a separate drawing path. The per-letter jitter that makes Latin look handwritten destroys those scripts, because drawing each glyph at its own position breaks the joins and drops the marks. Those fonts are now jittered word by word, which keeps the shaping correct.
June 2026 — First public version
Converter, 18 Latin handwriting styles, 12 paper types, 5 inks, 7 page sizes, PDF and image export. Free, no account, no watermark.
